Narelle Fordham holds post graduate qualifications in Psychology and after 15 years clinical practice in psychology offering psychological services to families, Narelle obtained qualifications in Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) and Mediation (NMAS) at the New South Wales College of Law.

Narelle is a professional member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (Australian Chapter), a member of the Australian Association for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (AACBT), a Member of the Resolution Institute, and is endorsed by the Psychological Society of Australia (APS) to provide supervision and training to intern psychologists. She has extensive experience in working with parents with relationship issues and those who are in situations of family conflict and separation.

All mediators at Resolve Sydney working alongside Narelle have developed skills in clinical assessment of children and families. Narelle conducts seminars and workshops for parents to help them to find child-focused ways of parenting their children post marital separation. Her practice focusses on educating separating parents about how to conduct respectful separation and she is experienced in assisting parents to establish sustainable parenting plans and post-separation relationships to effectively co-parent their children. From her vast knowledge of child development and years of experience working with families Narelle can assist parents in maintaining child-focussed communication and low conflict. Narelle's extensive professional experience includes work in the fields of education, disabilities, child protection, and research at the University of New South Wales at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre prior to establishing private practice. She has extensive skills in assessment and management of risk in relation to the protection of vulnerable persons and has facilitated a multitude of programs for disadvantaged people who have been at risk of abuse or exploitation due to their dependency on others, (including those with intellectual or psychological disorders). Her knowlege and experince includes providing assistance to clients who have experienced abuse or discrimination due to intellectual and developmental delays, mental illness, illiteracy, impaired capacity, alcoholism and drug dependence issues.

Narelle has been recognised as an innovative and involved mediator who will work with the parties to help them move towards a resolution by encouraging and facilitating dialogue that assists the parties obtain a better understanding of the other's perspective and position and by supporting in the formulation of their own proposals for resolution. From her extensive experience Narelle recognises what is required in arranging ongoing parenting arrangements before, during and after any final Court Orders. She works from an solution focussed framework, and helps clients understand their conflict in the context of family systemic theory.

Narelle can issue section 60I certificates as required.
